Work is underway to produce a book covering the pictorial history of Greytown and surrounding district showing the progress of the region from 1854 - 2004. As a committee we are keen to obtain old photos from 1860 onward for this Pictorial book " THROUGH THE AGES".   Please contact Chris Slater 06 3049466

HISTORIC PARADE EASTER SATURDAY 10TH APRIL

Greytown Lawn Tennis Club float in the Centennial Procession of 1954Having a parade has been a traditional way for Greytown celebrating numerous events. In 1954 the Greytown centennial was a large affair with large parade.

Greytown first celebrated Arbor day in New Zealand in 1819 and used a parade to celebrate this in 1892. The borough council had a parade to mark it's centennial in 1978. To commemorate war efforts there has been parades too, the 1st world war and 60th anniversary of VJ parades.

More recently the Greytown Rugby club held a parade to celebrate their 125th anniversary. The Lions club will provide the co-ordination of the 150th Celebration parade. We strongly encourage all business, sports clubs or services industries to take part in this event. The aim of the parade is to draw the town crowd to the Greytown Soldiers Memorial Park area for prize-giving, fun activities, food stalls, a lolly scramble, family picnics to conclude a fun day.
